Van gaal: my philosophy is attacking

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that his footballing philosophy is an attacking one, following recent criticism of his team's lack of penetration in the final third.United have scored just 17 goals in 12 matches thus far in the 2015/16 Premier League campaign. Crystal Palace and Liverpool are the only teams in the top half of the table who have scored fewer goals, while United's 123 shots is the fifth fewest in the league.Despite this, United's miserly defence - they have the best defensive record in the league - means that they sit in fourth on the league table, just two points off the pace set by Manchester City.
However, this has not prevented the United faithful from voicing their displeasure with their side's lack of goals, with chants of 'attack, attack, attack' commonplace as the Red Devils struggled to three goalless draws in October.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has hit out at manager Louis van Gaal again, saying the club just need to focus on attacking football.
Scholes, who won 11 Premier League titles and racking up 718 appearances during a glittering career at Old Trafford, and Van Gaal have engaged in a war of words in recent weeks.

Manchester United got their first win in four outings last night, with Louis van Gaal giving a full European debut to the young Jesse Lingard who has impressed in recent weeks. Once again the academy product put in another good performance, and he has earned praise from a particular United hero.
Paul Scholes has singled Lingard out for his output in the game, as well as being extremely delighted about he wonderful pass he played in for Wayne Rooney’s goal.

With the match goalless in the second half and United heading for their fourth consecutive 0-0 draw, Young looked to win a penalty after colliding with Georgy Schennikov inside the CSKA area.
Young was not booked for simulation but Scholes believes diving is something the midfielder is struggling to eradicate from his game.
